Blog 8 of 8: Circle of Goodness - Building toilets and partnering with Safisana

Hey, remember? A few months ago, we shared the fantastic news that we want to become the world's first Fair Trade toilet paper! In our blog series, we've been sharing every two weeks the steps we will take to become Fair Trade. Today, the circle is complete; read the final blog post here!

Circle of Goodness

Quick recap! The first toilet paper brand closely collaborating with farmers. With our 'Circle of Goodness,' we have a plan to ensure that the profits don't end up in the pockets of big corporations but go directly to the farmers in Ghana. These farmers cultivate bamboo for us, and we, in turn, help them generate additional income, ensuring they get their fair share of the toilet paper market.

As you've read in our previous blogs, we are forging partnerships with amazing organizations like Fair Trade, B-Corp, Solidaridad, and Farmerline. Together, we dream of a world where entrepreneurship equals taking care of our planet and its inhabitants.

It's not just about being environmentally friendly; it's also about fairness. That's why we adhere to the ten principles of the World Fair Trade Organization. These principles ensure equal opportunities for all farmers, transparency in the supply chain, no involvement of child or forced labor, fair payments, combating discrimination, ensuring good working conditions, and promoting gender equality. Our goal is to empower farmers without making them entirely dependent on bamboo income. Some call it a social enterprise; we call it common sense!

Collaboration with Safisana

Remember our collaboration with Safisana? Safisana is a social enterprise based in Ghana that focuses on converting organic waste into valuable products in lower- and middle-income countries. We have recently teamed up with Safisana to experiment with organic fertilizers, aiming to boost the growth of bamboo and elevate bamboo production in Ghana to a higher and more sustainable level!

This collaboration speaks volumes about our shared vision. Together, we are not only addressing sanitation issues; we are innovating, finding sustainable solutions, and changing lives. Safisana's goal of turning waste into valuable resources seamlessly aligns with our commitment to sustainability.

Building toilets

In addition to our bamboo experiments, we are moving forward with building toilets in Ghana. Access to sanitation is a fundamental right! And we're not just constructing toilets – we are collaborating with local communities for a better future. Our toilets, designed by Ghanaian architects and engineers, leverage local craftsmanship as they know best what is needed. So, we're not just using bricks and cement; we're harnessing the power of local workers. And yes, this effort is not just about restoring dignity and boosting health; it also provides these neighborhoods with the tools to take control of their own development. Therefore, our toilets are not just bricks and walls; they are symbols of collaboration, progress, and the significant impact of working together hands-on!

Impact beyond numbers

The impact we aim to create can't be confined to mere statistics. It resides in the stories of the individuals whose lives we've changed, the positive influence on entire communities, and the emergence of new dreams for the future. It is evident in the smiles of people who now have access to a clean and safe toilet, in the dreams of children who can return to school without worry, and in the sense of dignity within families.

As we close the door on this blog series, we are extremely grateful for every investor, every supporter, and all those lives we have touched. But hey, we're not stopping here! It's a continuous flow of impact, embracing sustainability, and building a Circle of Goodness that extends beyond our imagination!
